FLAME & CITRON IN JERUSALEM 17 DECEMBER 2009
The 11th Jerusalem Jewish Film Festival will take place from 12-18 December 2009.
In cooperation with the Royal Danish Embassy, the Danish film Flame & Citron (2008) by Ole Christian Madsen will be screened on Thursday 17 December 2009 at 19:00.
The film is about occupied Denmark in 1944. Flame and Citron are two resistance fighters charged with liquidating Danish informers. By order of their commander, they now consent to kill Germans as well. But when Flame is asked to execute his girlfriend, he questions his orders. In the struggle for freedom, all zones appear grey, and it becomes increasingly unclear who is friend and who is foe. The film is based on true events.
As an introduction to the film, the Danish historian Prof. Therkel Stræde from the University of Southern Denmark will talk about the Danish Resistance Movement and the rescue of the Danish Jews. The Ambassador will be present at the screening of Flame & Citron.
